Capitalizes "Mark" in Gruden quote.

McCoy injured his right leg after slipping while trying to scramble late in the first quarter against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Gruden said the Redskins' decision was only based on on-field reasons. Alex Smith broke his leg in November during a game against the Houston Texans.

Now, the Redskins are once again on the market for a quarterback, needing someone to come in and backup Sanchez in case he too goes down.

"We have to get a plan ready for Mark moving forward", Gruden said. We tried to get him comfortable, you know.

McCoy stayed in the game and completed two short passes before limping off with the Redskins trailing 7-3 to the Super Bowl champion Eagles (6-6).

The injury comes as a major disappointment for McCoy.

Getty Colt McCoy out for season after leg injury. After McCoy began the game 4 of 4 for 50 yards, Sanchez only was able to manage 100 yards passing on 13 completions over 21 attempts the rest of the night. A return in four weeks is more likely.

Sanchez was the lone QB left on Washington's roster.

We're not sure what it says that the two biggest plays of Sanchez's career involved butts - or that he's spent much of his National Football League career sitting on his butt on the sidelines - but it probably means he's not a very good quarterback.

It can be seen that Philadelphia Eagles defenders charged towards a rushing Sanchez. Also gave up a 90-yard TD run to Adrian Peterson and allowed Washington to drive for a FG at end of first half. He's a great leader, a great quarterback. Sanchez was the fifth overall pick in the 2009 draft and drew comparisons to Joe Namath in NY.

"Well, we had more plays in our first preseason game with our third or fourth quarterback to be honest with you", Gruden said.
