Friends Is Not Leaving Netflix in January 2019

According to Decider, Friends will be gone as of January 1st, 2019 and fans have taken to Twitter with all kinds of sentiments.

The hit 1990s sitcom, which is still one of the most popular comedies in the USA thanks to its availability on Netflix, is leaving the streaming giant on January 1, according to its page on Netflix's website.

However, the the "Jan. 1" removal date has now been deleted and Netflix's chief content officer Ted Sarandos told The Hollywood Reporter on Monday that the show's "departure is a rumor".

Protesting to keep Friends on Netflix is futile, because Friends' exit is a cold, hard business decision.

We'll be sure to let you know more about Friends leaving Netflix as we find out. That means fans have only a few more weeks - until New Year's Eve at 11:59pm, to be precise - to binge-watch all 236 episodes of Friends before it's yanked from Netflix's catalogue of shows.

ET has reached out to Netflix for comment.

It was predicted in October that the media giant would be losing the 10-season show - which originally aired from 1994 to 2004 - as well as other content in the coming months as new streaming services prepare to compete in the market. Seriously, all the teens love Friends, they think it's "quaint".

One of the new entrants in the streaming space next year will be Warner Bros.' parent company, WarnerMedia, which will launch its own branded streaming platform at the end of 2019. Warner Bros. owns the rights to Friends. Last week, AT&T said that the WarnerMedia-branded platform will launch with three levels of service. If you want to watch the show one more time on Netflix, you better start soon.
