'Breaking Bad' movie to start filming this month

Details are frustratingly scarce at this point: We don't know whether the Breaking Bad movie will be released theatrically, or air on AMC, as the series did from 2008 to 2013.

Per the New Mexico Film Office, "Greenbriar" is going into production in Albuquerque, New Mexico, the same place that hit crime drama "Breaking Bad" was set and filmed.

It was not immediately clear if the film would land on TV or in theaters, according toThe Hollywood Reporter. Series creator Vince Gilligan is said to be overseeing the project, but that's about all that's being reported right now.

Will Aaron Paul and Bryan Cranston return for the project?

The sources say that Gilligan may direct the movie, and he'll be writing it as well as executive producing. The New Mexico Film Office has confirmed that a project with that title is due to start shooting in mid-November.

Hit US television series Breaking Bad may have achieved that rare feat - a flawless ending - but it doesn't mean that creator Vince Gilligan isn't planning to write an extra chapter in the drugs drama. Given the format, a prequel wouldn't make a lot of sense (particularly when SPT could score another extended win like Better Call Saul with another spin-off) so it could be that we're looking at the possibility of the return of Bryan Cranston's Walter White and Aaron Paul's Jesse Pinkman. It's unclear if the movie would be another prequel - like AMC's Better Call Saul -or a follow-up of some sort. Partly thanks to the excellent Better Call Saul spin-off, but also partly to the vague ending that didn't quite offer a full-stop to Walter White's story, the brand endures. You can really tell Gilligan and his crew take great pride in the story, so I have absolute confidence that this movie will meet fan expectations.
