Raheem Sterling not scared anymore, says Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola

The Citizens had their ninth top-flight win of the season wrapped up with less than a quarter of the game played, finding themselves three goals to the good through a Wesley Hoedt own goal and strikes from Sergio Aguero and David Silva.

Southampton did pull a goal back through a Danny Ings penalty - the first City have conceded in the league since September 1 - but Raheem Sterling put any suggestion of a comeback to bed with a fourth in first-half stoppage time. He is stable and is focused on what he has to do to become a better player. "He is in incredible form".

"I don't think we were confronted with lots of goal chances and we kept them at bay pretty well, but they were clinical".

He would have known, as would the team, that they were in for a hard afternoon regardless, but that if you let City get away in the early stages then the result is a foregone conclusion. "Still, his pace and quality is incredible".

Guardiola stopped short of saying he should be considered one of the world's best players, suggesting that Sterling is still accident prone in possession at times. "It is a joy to be manager of them because they follow us", he added. One thing is now without argument, Raheem Sterling is absolutely quality. "If at the end of our period here, we feel they are better [then that] is enough".

Having said that, Southampton aren't the first side - nor will they be the last - to be completely and utterly embarrassed by Guardiola's City. He was looking, who is the guy I am going to pass the ball to? "That was our feeling", he said.

And only Alan Shearer managed to score 150 league goals in less games than Aguero, with the former Newcastle United and Blackburn Rovers man needing just 212 matches to do so. Now you have the feeling [he thinks], "Where is the goal and go there".

"For the second goal he arrived until the keeper".

"I can score a hat-trick so it was not the flawless day but we will take the three points", said Morata. He is becoming a winning player and he is just 23 years old.
