Industry watchers said Samsung's move to apply multiple cameras on midrange models reflects its strategy to cope with Chinese rivals in emerging markets. Like the shimmery gradients seen on phones like the Huawei P20 or Oppo Find X, the Galaxy A9 comes with a choice of three fanciful-sounding colours - Caviar Black, Lemonade Blue and Bubblegum Pink.

With a huge battery capacity of 4,000mAh, it will easily get you through a day (and a half), if gaming is not your thing (intense gaming will net you around 3-4 hours). You can now capture everything, without restriction, store more and delete less with the Galaxy A9's 128GB storage and up to 512GB of expandable memory. In total, the Samsung Galaxy A9 comes with 24MP+10MP+8MP+5MP or 47MP quad-lens rear camera. There is an Infinity Display offering dual-curved edges and slim bezels at the top and bottom, while their rears have a fingerprint sensor.

Since the phone is all about those cameras, let's go over them briefly.

Oh, and there's an equally impressive 24-megapixel front-facing camera that will certainly satisfy demanding selfie queens and kings.

Samsung has promised an Android 9 Pie update for the Galaxy A9, but there's no details of when this might arrive.

In today's 4x Fun event, Samsung just announced Galaxy A9 2018 edition. It is powered by the Snapdragon 660 octa-core processor where four of its cores are clocked at 2.2GHz and the rest are low-power cores running at 1.8GHz. This is a great deal on all three devices, though it is a better deal on the Galaxy Note 9 since it is brand new, and this is the first real deal on the Galaxy Note 9 since it launched in August.

The Galaxy A9 (2018) is priced starting at 599 Euros, roughly translating to $690 or INR 51,300, with availability starting from November. It's just a tad smaller, has two more colour options, and comes with some internal compromises. Will the Galaxy A9 make it into the US? The quad camera setup includes a 24-megapixel main camera, a 10-megapixel Telephoto sensor with 2X optical zoom, an 8-megapixel ultra wide sensor and a 5-megapixel depth snapper. Some consumers favored A9 because of its good camera features and large-sized battery. But it's not a usual mid-range device; in fact, it's the world first smartphone to hold quad camera setup, on the back.

Samsung foldable phone rumours or leaks are not new; they are here from past several years.

The Galaxy A9 will arrive with Android 8.0 Oreo as standard, adorned as always with the Samsung Experience skin.
