This salary is reportedly on par with what Chris Evans (aka Captain America) and Chris Hemsworth (aka Thor) were given for their standalone films Captain America: Civil War and Thor: Ragnarok, respectively.

Marvel was criticised for taking so long to give the Black Widow her own film.

Scarlett Johansson inadvertently flexed her bankroll when she was placed atop Forbes' highest paid actress list this year.

Marvel Studios will pay Scarlett Johansson a massive $15 million (more than Rs 100 crore) for the upcoming standalone Black Widow film, The Hollywood Reporter reported. She was first a villain of Iron-Man, and worked for the Russians before defecting to the USA and joining the Avengers.

It was previously announced that Cate Shortland will be directing the Black Widow solo film but no other details have yet been made official.

Johansson appeared in her first Avengers movie back in 2012, earning a low seven-figure salary, compared to Robert Downey Jr.'s whopping $50 million payday.

The report also reveals Chadwick Boseman was paid $2 million (£1.5 million) for Black Panther, while Brie Larson is set to earn $5 million (£3.7 million) for 2019's Captain Marvel. As per the producer of the film, Kevin Feige had earlier said, "The entire intention of Infinity War and the next Avengers film next year was to have an ending - to bring a conclusion to 10-plus years, 22-movie narrative in a way that hadn't been done before in this particular type of film".

Potential massive spoilers for The Avengers 4 may follow below as merchandise has leaked online offering details on new suits for both Thor and Rocket Raccoon, in addition to mention of villains.

It's a great news for all Marvel and Avengers fans as the shooting of the fourth installment of the ensemble superhero franchise has been wrapped up.
