"You can't win without me".

Butler, meanwhile, doesn't sound like he's backing down from his trade request, even if he's still under contract with the Timberwolves for one more year. At times, Butler has been working out away from the team at the facility since his trade request three weeks ago.

If this continues, the Timberwolves may have to send others in the organization out the door with Butler.

It would be in the Timberwolves' best interest to trade Butler if they can't convince him to return. ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported Butler was "determined to find a way to the Los Angeles Clippers" and was looking to pair with a second All-Star in the 2019 free agency class. Thibodeau had been urging Butler to rejoin the team while team owner Glen Taylor knows Butler has to go.

The practice comes after sources said that the Heat were still pressing for a trade to acquire Butler. The Heat and president Pat Riley were "as aggressive as any team in pursuit of a Jimmy Butler trade", per Wojnarowski. He teamed up with the Wolves' third-stringers and took down the starters, all the while going after star players Karl-Anthony Towns and Andrew Wiggins on the court, as well as head coach Tom Thibodeau and General Manager Scott Layden verbally on the sidelines.

Wednesday's episode only added to an already embarrassing ordeal that has dragged on because of Thibodeau's unwillingness to move Butler, which has made an uneasy situation more hard. He reportedly met with Butler and attempted to convince him to stay with the Timberwolves, but Butler wouldn't budge and reiterated his desire to be dealt by the season opener.

While these rumors sound fantastic for the Timberwolves moving forward, a trade with the Miami Heat and Houston Rockets now seems (close to) void.
