As part of the Nintendo Switch online service players will have many NES games available to play, and what better way to play them than with a classic Nintendo Entertainment System controller.

After teasing its arrival for what feels like a lifetime, Nintendo has finally confirmed its Switch Online subscription plan will launch in just a few days on September 18, 2018.

No word on their compatibility beyond that, considering the limited buttons, but it'll release in a pack of two controllers (one left, one right) sometime soon.

Before you start paying, Nintendo is offering a week free for you to see if it's something you really want to pay for. You also have the option of a family subscription.

Additionally, purchasing the NES Joy-Cons will require a paid membership to Nintendo Switch Online, as one of the special offers.

While that's a slight bummer, the fact you can use classic controllers with these games is a nice touch. You can make use of a seven-day free trial by signing up on the Nintendo eShop starting September 18.

"Friends can even watch each other play single-player games online, and "pass the controller" at any time". But we do know that the service will enable online play, cloud game saving and more. Exclusive gear for Splatoon 2 will be given to anyone who purchases a 1yr membership, starting in early October.
