Reportedly, Catholic reformation organizations also joined the protest which had been called by the Joint Christian Council. This comes on the same day when the police told the Kerala High Court that their preliminary investigations reveal that the bishop abused his position and raped the nun on multiple occasions. "We feel that it was the Church which forced us onto the streets", Sister Anupama of the Missionaries of Jesus, one of the protesters, told the Times of India Sept. 8.

In a letter to Giambattista Diquattro, Vatican's Apostolic Nuncio (a diplomatic mission), the nun said she had turned to the church authorities for justice.

A Kottayam Police Superintendent, SP Hari Sankar, told the paper that they do not have enough evidence to arrest the bishop.

Meanwhile, NDTV reported that the police will decide today whether Jalandhar bishop Franco Mulakkal would be arrested. The 13th time it became rape.

Anapura noted that Mulakkal has been targeting her group since they declared support for his accuser, saying the bishop is "trying to coerce a statement against the survivor from us".

In early August, one PIL was filed seeking arrest of the Bishop.

Kottayam District Superintendent of Police Harisankar, Vaikom Deputy Superintendent of Police K Subhash, who is heading the special investigation team, and other officials attended the review meeting chaired by Ernakulam Range IG Vijay Sakhare in Kochi. The congregation is based in the Diocese of Jullundur, and Bishop Mulakkal is its patron.

The Missionaries of Jesus congregation Tuesday said it was planning to implead itself in the Kerala High Court which is hearing a related matter. If there is any truth in the allegations by the nun, then she should also receive justice from the legal system.

"We have got some details from the statement of the nun and police are examining this", he said. "In the case of action within the Church, if she has given a complaint to the concerned forum, then I am sure that an investigation would be going on".

Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 12: The Kerala police in an affidavit before the Kerala High Court said that the evidence available suggests that Bishop Franco Mulakkal committed rape repeatedly.

Bishop Mulakkal has claimed that he has been threatened and blackmailed by the nun's family. On the basis of her complaint, the Kuravilangad police registered Crime No. 746 of 2018 of Kuruvilangad Police for offences punishable under Sections 342, 376 (2)(k) and (n), 377, and 506 (I) IPC. George however added he will stick to other charges he raised against the nun of Jesus of Missionary Congregation.
