Hurricane Florence, Isaac, Helene Tropical Update

Meanwhile, the Miami-based National Hurricane Centre (NHC) said that there is little change in the strength of Hurricane Isaac that has winds of 75 miles per hour and moving closer towards the Windward Islands in the Lesser Antilles.

Though Isaac is expected to weaken before making landfall and return to a Tropical Storm by late Thursday, numerous islands are still rebuilding following Hurricane Maria and are expected to experience heavy rain, winds, rough surf and increased rip currents in the oncoming days.

Residents of the US East Coast are preparing for the storm's arrival as the National Weather Service warned on Monday that "Florence is forecast to bring devastating rainfall and flooding from the coast to the Appalachians".

"Presume that a major hurricane is going to hit right smack dab in the middle of SC".

Florence, the most powerful Hurricane of the three, is expected to barrell through Bermuda and the Bahamas in the coming days before directly hitting the southeastern coast of the United States on Thursday.

The center of the strong storm is about 1,240 miles east-southeast of Bald Head Island, with the hurricane moving westward at roughly 13 mph.

North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper said he had asked President Donald Trump for a federal disaster declaration ahead of the storm.

Hurricane Florence, a risky Category 4 hurricane, continued it's slow slog toward the N.C. coast late Monday, with forecasters expecting the storm to strengthen even more before likely weakening before landfall.

The governors of Virginia, Maryland, and North and SC have declared states of emergency ahead of the storm.

It is over warm water and a favorable upper level environment so rapid strengthening is forecast and Florence is forecast to be a major hurricane Monday morning.

“As a public safety note, the south shore will experience unsettled surf conditions associated with Hurricane Florence, and the public is encouraged to use caution on those beaches.”.

Swells generated by Isaac will begin to affect portions of the Lesser Antilles on Wednesday afternoon. Of the two other storms, which remain far from land, Isaac poses the most immediate risk.

All eyes are on Hurricane Florence and its path toward the Carolinas, but several other hurricanes are brewing as well. If this occurs, flooding inland and along the coast could be very significant with the potential of over a foot of rain over parts of the Mid-Atlantic U.S. This storm is NOT a threat to the Big Bend and South Georgia.

Helene has sustained winds of 65 miles per hour and is moving west at 13 miles per hour. "I don't know where to go from here", she said.

South Carolina's governor ordered the state's entire coastline evacuated starting at noon Tuesday and predicted that 1 million people would flee as highways reverse directions.
