Ariana Grande Posts Tribute for Mac Miller After His Death

Singer Ariana Grande took to Instagram on Saturday to share a photo of rapper Mac Miller, who died Friday. He passed away from an apparent overdose on Friday (September 7) at his home in California's San Fernando Valley.

In the hours after Miller's death was first reported, it emerged that comments had been disabled on Grande's Instagram account, as she had been receiving abusive and upsetting messages from his fans.

The photo appears to have been taken by Ariana, 25, as she stands over him while he sits on a patch of grass gazing up at her. It would prompt the singer to disable comments on her photos on Instagram.

An autopsy and toxicology report is being done to determine the exact cause of death.

Grande and Miller's love story began back in 2013 when they collaborated on her single "The Way". In an interview published just days before his death, Miller told NY magazine he was trying to tame his negative emotions. "We join all of his fans across the globe in extending our thoughts and prayers to his family and friends".

As fans will know, the couple had broken up earlier this year, with Ariana previously tweeting that she wished the best for him going forwards: "I have cared for him and tried to support his sobriety and prayed for his balance for years". At the time, Grande responded to a Twitter user who accused of her of being the reason behind the incident.

Miller performed with Grande at a memorial concert following the 2017 Manchester Arena bombing and the pair released music together before their split earlier this year. He told reporters: "I wrote that love song before I saw her".

In a profile article published the day before his death by Vulture, Miller said, "I used to rap super openly about really dark sh- because that's what I was experiencing at the time". "I have people that care about me and fans that love my music and it's a handsome relationship with them - people who have been with me through being a 19-year-old wide-eyed kid to being a self-destructive depressed drug user to making love music to all these different stages".
