Manchester United defender Timothy Fosu-Mensah is closing in on a loan move to Fulham, according to Sky Sports News.

The 20-year-old impressed last season while plying his trade at Crystal Palace, and Fulham made sure they got the job done before the window shut down on Thursday.

Sevilla have transferred a player who they were trying to move after a hard season and Fulham hope they can give him the support and confidence he's lacked after the Andalusian club's fans lost faith in him.

Fulham have defensive concerns ahead of their Premier League return against Crystal Palace.

Fosu-Mensah has struggled to break into United's first team, despite being with the club since 2014 and with opportunities limited for the versatile defender, loan moves have seemed the best way for him to gain Premier League experience.

There were also the incoming loanees Sergio Rico, the Seville goalkeeper and the Atletico Madrid striker, Argentine Luciano Vietto.

The Netherlands worldwide, who has made 21 senior appearances for United since his debut under Louis van Gaal in 2016, played 24 games for Palace last season.

There will be plenty of debuts for Fulham, who brought in 12 players during the summer.

In the 2016/17 campaign, Vietto played for Sevilla and previous year he played the second half of the season for Valencia.
