EPL: Hodgson extends Crystal Palace contract

Manchester United defender Timothy Fosu-Mensah is closing in on a loan move to Fulham, according to Sky Sports News.

The 71-year-old former England national coach was hired by Palace in September last year, replacing Frank de Boer after the club lost their four opening games without scoring a goal, and, despite losing the next three matches, eventually guided them to 11th place.

It is a busy day for Fulham, with the Cottagers also looking to wrap up several more deals including a stunning swop for Atletico Madrid striker Luciano Vietto.

Fosu-Mensah has struggled to break into United's first team, despite being with the club since 2014 and with opportunities limited for the versatile defender, loan moves have seemed the best way for him to gain Premier League experience. It has a nice history, it's a nice club.

Speaking to the Palace website, Hodgson said: "I am delighted to have extended my contract with Crystal Palace". I don't need to make anyone happy.

Fulham, meanwhile, have enjoyed a fruitful transfer window, signing seven players to bolster their ranks ahead of their Premier League return.

And it has been claimed that he is closing in on linking up with Fulham on season-long loan deal as he looks to play more senior football this summer.
