Everton clinch signing of Brazilian Bernard

Everton have won the race for his signature with the attacking midfielder signing a four-year contract.

The Brazil worldwide follows compatriot Richarlison and Lucas Digne in joining the Marco Silva revolution on Merseyside.

He has not made an appearance in any of the pre-season fixtures under new manager, Maurizio Sarri.

Everton coach Marco Silva finally convinced Gomes to join and he has had his medical for the Premier League side in Barcelona.

"I did not need any convincing to come here".

The Frenchman, who has also been linked with a move to Everton, impressed on loan at Stoke last season but will struggle to force his way through a queue of central defenders now he is back with the Blues.

"That is why I made my choice, because of the confidence both the manager and the Club showed in me".

"We have a very good squad, with very good players and it is very hard to add players to that", he said.

Silva added: "Bernard is a quick player, very good technically and he can play on the left or right wings and as an offensive midfield player behind the striker".

The winger will provide competition to the likes of Richarlison, Theo Walcott and Yannick Bolasie at Goodison Park, and gives Silva another attacking option to fulfil his pledge of playing a more advanced, positive style of play, in relation to his remit of pleasing the Toffees faithful.

Zouma is likely to be joined by Yerry Mina and Andre Gomes at Goodison Park, as the Merseyside club look to get back on track after a slow start to the transfer window.

A loan fee of around £2million was agreed, with Everton also picking up the cost of the player's wages.
