Google Clock App Adds "Musical Mornings" With Spotify, YouTube Music Is Next

When the alarm goes off you'll hear the selected music.

The Spotify tab will show the music that you played recently on Spotify.

In an update that is rolling out earlier this week, you'll be able to connect Spotify to the Clock app. If your struggles are down to motivation, Google has something that can fit the bill for you. Since the feature is not yet live, we can't provide step-by-step instructions, but from what we can tell, you'll open the Clock app and see the option to integrate Spotify from the alarm sounds section. Starting this week though, if you use Spotify and would like to use songs from the service as your alarm, then that may be reason enough for you to start using Google's Clock app. They'll also have the option of choosing one of the premade morning playlists put together by Spotify. Those with a premium Spotify account can select any track, album, artist, or playlist in the company's catalog to wake up to. It's supported on Android 5.0 and newer devices. Through this collaboration six episodes/issues of music, voice acting and original comic illustrations will be available on the Spotify mobile app.

After your musical alarm starts playing, you can choose to keep listening to the song on Spotify right where it left off after toggling the alarm off.

Ever wanted to wake up on one of your favorite upbeat tunes on Spotify instead of the usual ringtones you get to choose from when setting your alarm?

This feature will work with Android Lollipop and does not even require a Spotify premium account to use.
