Zsa Zsa was rescued from a puppy mill in Missouri at five years old and subsequently adopted by Megan who discovered her on PetFinder.

The canine won the hearts of people with her slobbery tongue, squished-in face and sparkly pink collar.

Brainard had recently brough Zsa Zsa on the Today show to celebrate her victory, just days before her sudden, devastating death. "It was sweet. She was waving at her", Brainard said. "He woke up this morning and found her passed away", Brainard told Today.com.

The dog's oversized tongue, pronounced underbite, and bowed stance helped her to claim the "top dog" spot at the Petaluma, California competition. We were all saying our goodbyes and Mareslie went right over and gave her a kiss.

RIP Zsa Zsa. You were too lovely for this world, and we know you're warming hearts up in Dog Heaven.

Zsa Zsa's 15 minutes in the limelight are over: the copiously drooling English bulldog named the World's Ugliest Dog just weeks ago has died.

Zsa Zsa was truly a thing of beauty. Her owner was awarded $1,500 for Zsa Zsa's win. She said her family held a small memorial for the pooch, known to love Slim Jims and burritos from the Mexican fast-food chain Chipotle. She was one of 14 candidates and won over pets who had impressive qualifications, including some that had been featured in films, TV shows, music videos - and one who had it's own IMDB page!
