LeBron's arrival transforms Lakers back into glamour show

Just what in the hell were the Lakers doing?

As it turns out, James has been consulted on the signings and been kept in the loop, according to ESPN. "I think guys like LeBron or myself, I haven't played with a lot of guys that make plays for me".

"If anything, that's going to make him look, maybe more, toward the Clippers because this is a guy that won Finals MVP against LeBron James".

LeBron James is taking his time getting settled in Los Angeles.

Aside from KCP, none of the players added to the Lakers this offseason are remotely decent perimeter shooters, and considering the Lakers were one of the league's worst three-point shooting teams a year ago, that seems to be less than ideal for pairing with LeBron.

LeBron has also spoken about his desire to play with high IQ players and Rondo certainly fits that description.

The 32-year-old played an important role in helping the Pelicans secure a playoff spot.

Pairing up with either George or Leonard would have given LeBron a better platform to dethrone the Warriors than he had last season, when the Cavs desperately missed Irving's offense and LeBron was left to fight a war he had no chance of winning.

Stephenson isn't on the same level, but still possesses an ability to create shots for himself and others with the ball in his hands.

The Lake Show has immediately gone to work in putting the strangest supporting cast we've seen around James yet.

All of this, of course, is predicated on James having the patience to transition into a more hands-off role, which is not a given. The Lakers haven't made the playoffs for a franchise-record five consecutive seasons, but Rondo believes they'll make immediate strides back toward contention for a 17th National Basketball Association championship.

But James' commitment allows the Lakers to not panic and only swing a deal if the right one comes along, knowing Leonard - along with others - will be available next summer.
