Griezmann is staying in Spain, that much is clear - Deschamps

Monaco forward Thomas Lemar is set to sign for Atletico Madrid in the coming days.

It is understood that representatives of Monaco and Atletico met on Tuesday evening to discuss the transfer, with Lemar now involved with the French national team at the World Cup in Russian Federation, as reported by French news outlet L'Equipe.

Antoine Griezmann intends to clear up his future before the World Cup begins, saying after France's draw with the United States on Saturday that he will reveal all this week.

Antoine Griezmann is believed to be on the verge of announcing his intention to stay at Atletico Madrid this summer, and has called a press conference in order to confirm that he will renew his contract at the Wanda Metropolitano - rejecting the offer from Barcelona in the process.

The winger is rated at around £65m but Arsenal did bid £90m on transfer deadline day last summer as they looked to push through a late deal.

Griezmann worked actively to bring Lemar to Atletico and is excited to play with him, sources said before the agreement was announced.

Griezmann, 27, continues to be linked with a move to LaLiga champions Barcelona after another fine season at Atletico.

Catalunya Radio reported that Barca remain confident of signing Griezmann as coach Ernesto Valverde was reassured by the club's hierarchy over a meal last week that the forward would be part of his squad next season. Griezmann, however, decided it wasn't the time to talk about his decision but he did at least admit that a decision has been made.

For the first time in his career, the former Real Sociedad man will lead the Les Bleus' line for the first time in Russian Federation, having been a bit-part player back in 2014.
