Son of Ryan O'Neal and Farrah Fawcett charged with attempted murder

Farrah Fawcett and Ryan O'Neal's son, Redmond O'Neal, has been charged with attempted murder and assault after he severely injured two people during a string of attacks in Los Angeles in May.

O'Neal's alleged crime spree happened in the Venice and Palms neighborhoods of Los Angeles.

Other incidents included several unprovoked attacks on people, including one who was stabbed in the face by the troubled Hollywood spawn. In addition to second degree robbery, he was charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a smoking device, possession of an injection/ingestion device, and two counts of possessing a controlled substance (meth and heroin).

O'Neal was arrested a few days later on May 8 as a suspect of an armed robbery at a 7-Eleven, and was linked to the earlier attacks due to his red hair and distinctive tattoos. Police say a man matching O'Neal's description was seen on surveillance video near the scene. He punched the victim before trying to stab him with a broken bottle, leaving the man with minor injuries to his face. O'Neal allegedly left blood evidence and fingerprints at the crime scene, which led authorities to identify him as a suspect through DNA, sources said.

According to a press release from the LAPD, detectives from the Pacific Area presented their findings to the District Attorney's Office on Friday, June 8. O'Neal pleaded not guilty to all of these charges. Scotty Steven told KABC.

"It appears, though, based on what we know now, that it just started as an argument between unknown persons and quickly escalated with the violent acts", he said.

Redmond O'Neal leaves court on October 9, 2012 in Los Angeles, California. Fawcett, a '70s icon who starred in the TV series "Charlie's Angels", died of cancer in 2009.

In an interview with Radar Online from prison on May 24, O'Neal blamed his famous family for all of his troubles with drugs and the law.

In 2008, Redmond O'Neal (who was 23 at the time) and his father, Ryan O'Neal, appeared in court together as they both faced a felony count of methamphetamine possession. Redmond was her only child.
