It looks as though Just Cause 4 may have been accidentally leaked via a Steam advert which many users have reported on.

The Just Cause series has proven to be a successful one for Avalanche Studios, and considering that it's been almost three years since Just Cause 3 launched, it's time to start thinking about what's next for the franchise. That game is Just Cause 4, and few will be sorry to hear (however prematurely) that it's being made.

E3 is nearly here and we got yet another leak with the reveal of Just Cause 4 from a pre-purchase ad on Steam showing the latest installment of the open-world action adventure series. If we were to guess, Square Enix will likely have a quick turn-around on this one and try to slot it somewhere in December like Just Cause 3 or very early 2019.

Despite the "Pre-Purchase Now" tagline, clicking on through the ad just leads back to the Steam Store homepage, so this was definitely an accidental slip-up that nevertheless confirms what we already suspected. Although we took issue with how long it takes to unlock the most fun mods and weapons, and the fact there was no official multiplayer, we still loved the big sandbox gameplay on offer.

What can we expect from Just Cause 4?

Avalanche are going to self-publish the game themselves and it'll be out sometime next year. Hopefully Just Cause 4 isn't as buggy as Just Cause 3. What do you make of this new IP from Avalanche Studios? Rage 2, which Avalanche is jointly developing with id Software, could also put in an appearance.
