As news of the death of beloved designer Kate Spade sinks in, her husband has released an emotional and substantial statement about his wife of 35 years.

Police have previously said that she left a note pointing to "a tragic suicide", but her husband, Andy Spade, said on Wednesday that he had "yet to see any note".

The designer's death has turned into a media feeding frenzy, with some outlets citing unnamed sources alleging the contents of a note found at the scene Tuesday. Together, Kate and Andy launched Kate Spade Handbags in 1993, and it blossomed into a full-scale clothing and jewelry line.

"We loved Kate dearly and will miss her terribly", a statement read. Andy is the brother of actor and comedian David Spade.

Kate Spade was born Katherine Brosnahan and grew up in Kansas City, Missouri. She started the company based on six shapes of bags that she thought every working woman needed.
