Queen Maxima of Holland's younger sister found dead in Argentina

Dutch Queen Maxima and King Willem-Alexander will travel to Buenos Aires for the funeral of the queen's younger sister, Ines Zorreguieta, the royal palace in The Hague says.

Queen Maxima of Holland's youngest sister, Inés Zorreguieta, was found dead in Argentina in an apparent suicide, local media reported. In 2010, while she attended the University of Belgrano in Buenos Aires, Zorreguieta wrote a thesis centered on suicide in order to receive her psychology degree. Although no additional details surrounding her tragic death were provided, it has been reported that she was known to suffer from depression. "It is intensely sad and heartbreaking news that can hardly be comprehended for those who stay behind", Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte said.

Argentina-born Queen Maxima has cancelled all engagements on her upcoming agenda, the Royal Palace has confirmed.

"With our hearts and our thoughts we are with the queen and her family".

Zorreguieta worked for the government for the social development ministry in Buenos Aires and previously at a United Nations office in Panama and as a psychologist for an office on social policies at the president's office.

Her father, Jorge Horacio Zorreguieta, died previous year in Buenos Aires at age 89. Zorreguieta was the godmother to the queen's youngest daughter, Princess Ariane.

Máxima said in a reaction that she is "very shocked and very upset" by the news, the RVD said.
