Video shows Smokey struggling to try and get out of the pool on May 1 as Remus is right above him.

A family from Arizona unknowingly filmed an astonishing video of their dog saving his best friend when he accidentally fell into a pool and couldn't get out.

The canine is seen struggling to get out whereas Remus was pacing alongside the facet.

If you're needing a little hero dog action to get you through an otherwise tiresome Thursday morning, sit yourself down and prepare to be reminded that the world isn't all that awful after all. He swims right under Smokey and pushes him up with his body, allowing Smokey to get his front paws up over the lip of the pool and finally pull himself up out of the water.

She called Remus a "hero" dog, saying he might be "a insane pup he's got a heart of gold".

Smokey had fallen into the swimming pool by accident when the two were playing in the back yard.

Becerra posted a video to Facebook which shows her daughter's dog, named Remus, leaping into the pool to save Smokey from drowning.

"When we saw the footage, we were amazed and our hearts filled with joy", the friend said.

Becerra added they sent the footage to Remus' owner, her best friend. "He said that the dog is a real certified lifeguard".
