TI Arrested Because a Security Guard Didn't Recognize Him

"The guard was sound asleep when Tip arrived at the guardhouse", Sadow said, using the rapper's nickname.

Sadow says T.I. contacted his wife Tameka "Tiny" Cottle, who confirmed her husband should be allowed inside the community. T.I. said the guard "may have been hurt by my words" but insisted that things did not become physical between the two.

The Henry County Sheriff's Office said T.I. was cited on misdemeanor charges of simple assault, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness after an alleged incident about 4 a.m.in Stockbridge, south of Atlanta.

According to the police report, T.I. argued with the security guard when he discovered he was asleep on the job, was eventually let in, then drove home to park his vehicle and walked back to get the security guard's name. He says the guard continued to refuse entry "without justification" before words were exchanged and police were called.

"Don't you know who I am?"

The guard told cops he felt threatened and called police.

According to Tip, his arrest is ultimately a result of calling out his gated community's security guard for sleeping on the job. The guard says the rapper was yelling profanity at him and behaving badly. He didn't have his key on him and argued with the security guard when he wasn't let in.

T.I. was booked into the Henry County jail but posted a $2,250 bail shortly after. Harris then asked the guard for his supervisor's name, but the guard refused to give it to him. Sadow also said the police weren't interested in hearing his client's side of the story when they arrived on the scene and "wrongfully chose to end the situation by arresting" him.

T.I.'s most recent album, "Paperwork", arrived in 2014, but the rapper has been working on a new release, "The Dime Trap", that is expected this year. The guard refused entry.

Earlier this year, he sat down with 11Alive's Neima Abdulahi to discuss school walkouts and gun violence after the Parkland high school shooting in Florida.

On Instagram live, T.I. didn't explain what happened but called it "nonsense". Major's birthday, I'm here, present, at school.
