Don Gorske has been eating Big Macs everyday for more than 46 years.

The food chain promoted the Big Mac fan's record-breaking ingestion, which happened under the "golden arches" on Military Road at 3 p.m. McDonald's Fox Valley's franchise owner D.W. Rause was there for the event. "You can not take Big Macs in front of the inmates", he said.

These kudos as well came straight from national headquarters: "We are lovin' Don Gorske's enthusiasm for our iconic Big Mac sandwich and appreciate his ongoing loyalty". The retired prison guard told the New York Post that he doesn't plan to slow down his consumption of the popular burger.

Look no further than Don Gorske of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, who recently achieved his lifelong dream of eating 30,000 Big Macs.

The grandfather claims that 90 percent of his diet consists of the burgers and he has even been recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records.

"People like to see proof", he said.

Over the years, he's preserved and categorised everything related to his Big Mac obsession but in June 1990, a tornado blew the eaves off his house and 7,000 Styrofoam cartons were damaged.

But it's not just eating Big Macs that Don loves - he's passionate about everything surrounding them too.

"People make fun of me, but it never bothered me".

In case you're wondering, Gorske says his cholesterol and blood pressure are normal and he weighs five pounds less than he did when he ate his 25,000th Big Mac in 2011.

Gorske, tall and lanky, has a meticulous memory and a penchant for details.

He ate his 20,000 Big Mac in 2004. He also appeared in the movie Supersize Me. In 2003, Ellen DeGeneres asked him to get his cholesterol checked, and it was 140.

Rause acknowledged that the customer has developed a "passion for Big Macs." .

"It's some that's just so good, it's just like chocolate and I couldn't get enough of at first, but still it is my favorite sandwich", he said.

"I also made a promise to my mom". He immediately eats two of them and refrigerates the rest for later. That day was April 27, 1988.
