Childish Gambino Dropped New Song 'This Is America'

Donald Glover was a fantastic host, playing a wide variety of characters, including his Lando Calrissian from Solo: A Star Wars Story.

In the cold open for the show, the Federal Bureau of Investigation listens in as Michael Cohen (played by Ben Stiller) calls United States President Donald Trump (Alec Baldwin) about Stormy Daniels.

A picture of the guests was also added to the amusing sketch, which Cecily Strong and Donald Glover nailed.

Dr. Angela (Cecily Strong) is a therapist that helps Friendos - a parody of Migos, famously loved by Glover - work through their friend group problems. Another suggested Glover was accusing black performers - even himself - of "coonery", or saying they are still made to feel like minstrels when they go out to perform their "black" music.

Like "A Quiet Place", except it's way harder to keep quiet as Kanye West's Trump-supporting tweets keep popping up.

For his second song, "This Is America", Gambino was introduced by actor Daniel Kaluuya of Get Out and Black Panther fame.

The video makes a poignant statement about gun violence in the US, depicting a violent shooting of a black man by a shirtless Gambino as he dances jubilantly away.

The rapper had Twitter talking with his new song This is America which he first performed popular TV show Saturday Night Live.

The Rolling Stones described Gambino's music video as a "surreal, visceral statement about gun violence in America".

Reactions to "This Is America" - directed by Gambino's long-time collaborated Hiro Murai, and choreographed by Sherrie Silver - are pretty much what you'd expect: absolutely, unequivocally floored.

On the next episode of SNL, airing May 13, Amy Schumer will host, alongside musical guest Kacey Musgraves.
