Following the forecast, the Haryana government has made a decision to shut all government and private schools on May 7- 8.

Schools in Haryana have been asked to remain closed over the next two days.

However, according to Met officials, the current storms are not expected to be as intense as the storms that struck north India on May 4, resulting in more than 100 deaths from Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan.

In view to metrological warning, the Home Ministry said that thunderstorms accompanied by squall, hail and heavy rains are likely to occur in at least 13 states and 2 Union Territories.

Also the Meteorological department has warned about the approach of heavy rains within the next three hours in eight southern districts and fishermen are cautioned against venturing into the sea.

IMD has issued the weather alert in Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, Sikkim, Kerala, Karnataka, Oddisha, Nagaland, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal, Pradesh, Uttrakhand, Punjab, and Delhi.

On the weather outlook between May 12 to May 14, the Meteorological Department said that widespread rain and thundershowers with isolated heavy falls were likely over northeast India.

As per reports from IMD, Heavy rain, squall and thunderstorm is likely to hit several parts of the country and may cause severe destruction.

Thunderstorm accompanied with gusty winds are very likely at isolated places over Jammu and Kashmir, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and western Uttar Pradesh.

An official release said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also approved Rs 50,000 each for those seriously injured due to the storm. He even visited the affected areas following which both Centre and the state announced relief payment to those affected by the bad weather last week.
