General Gowon warns against impeachment of President Buhari

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has urged the Presidency to end its official secrecy and come clear on the reasons for President Muhammadu Buhari's alleged "technical stopover" in London. It has been taken for major repairs.

Accordingly, at about 10.35p.m on Thursday, the presidential aircraft carrying the president and some members of his entourage landed at the presidential wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja.

According to PDP, President Buhari's foreign trips, which come at great costs, have not brought any gains to our country.

"Furthermore, President Buhari's admission at the Voice of America (VOA) that he was unable to reach any agreement with President Donald Trump on any matter of interest to Nigeria, during his United States visit and that he has no future development agenda to validate his 2019 re-election bid, confirm our position that the Buhari administration has nothing to offer Nigerians", PDP added. "We talked about that, he is working on it and they have made a lot of progress and I think they will continue to make a lot of progress", Trump had said.

The President said this in a statement on Wednesday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, on the occasion of World Press Freedom Day which is observed every May 3.

This is very normal.

Recall that the presidency while reacting to news that the president was on another medical trip to London after his visit to Donald Trump, said he (the president) only had a "technical stopover" in London and not on medical grounds as circulated in some quarters.

"It is a routine thing. In any case, they are already on their way back home".

Addressing the Northern Leaders and Stakeholders' Assembly in his office in Abuja on Thursday, Gowon said there was need for unity in the North and across the entire country.

This happened when he hosted Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari at State House on Monday.

"Nigeria has a reputation for very massive corruption".

"In the last 24 hours, the Internet has been bombarded with deliberate falsehoods aimed at hoodwinking the unsuspecting Nigerians to believe that Obasanjo has now supported Buhari for his second term, because of some perceived Buhari's "superlative" performance in his encounter with Trump during his visit to the White House in Washington D. C". "I also know that the President (Buhari) has been able to cut that down very substantially".
