NASCAR Cup Series race at Bristol postponed due to rain

The starting time for Sunday's Food City 500 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race has been moved up an hour to 1 p.m. EST, officials said in a press release Saturday.

Series champion Martin Truex, Jr. was tenth in practice with Darrell "Bubba" Wallace in the STP Chevrolet placing 21st in practice. Kurt Busch in the No. 41 was the fastest auto on the track in round two, with a average lap speed of 129.030 miles per hour.

Rounding out the top 10 were AJ Allmendinger (126.204mph), polesitter Kyle Busch (126.129mph), Daniel Suarez (126.112mph), Kasey Kahne (126.079mph), and Jimmie Johnson (126.021mph). Fellow Georgia native Chase Elliott (127.073 mph) posted the second quickest lap in the practice.

The No. 41 Stewart-Haas Racing team had pulled the backup auto off the hauler after Busch spun off Turn 2 with less than 10 minutes to go in final practice.

The red flag flew briefly during the second session when Kurt Busch got loose on corner exit and spun into the inside wall.

Former Bristol winners Denny Hamlin (126.997 mph) and Kurt Busch (126.537 mph) were third and fourth.

The Food City 500 is scheduled for Sunday afternoon (April 15).
