The District Magistrate Sushil Kumar along with Pauri MLA Mukesh Koli garlanded the statue of the legendary leader and asked the people, particularly the youths, to follow the lead given by the leader for establishing an egalitarian society, a principle enshrined in the Constitution framed by Ambedkar.

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik also paid tribute to the chief architect of Indian Constititution on his birthday.

Rao said Ambedkar recognised the difference between India and other countries and accordingly prepared plans for the country's future.

The prime minister praised Babasaheb Ambedkar's contributions at the launch of the first wellness centre under "Ayushman Bharat" in Bastar. Dr Ambedkar is the man who gave India its Constitution.

"I pay my tribute and homage to Dr Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar on his 127th birth anniversary", he said in a message.

Speaking on the occasion, Tsering Gyalpo said that Ambedkar was a great personality who showed the people the true path to humanity.

On April 2, Dalit groups across the country had called for a nationwide strike in protest against a Supreme Court order diluting the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Prevention of Atrocities Act.

Addressing the event, Adityanath said that the BJP government has worked tirelessly for the upliftment of Dalits.

In connection with Ambedkar Jayanti celebrations, Students Educational Movement of Kargil (SEMOK) today organized a declamation contest on the theme "Reservation: A blessing or a curse" here. "We remain indebted to him for his efforts towards the making of our Constitution".

President Ram Nath Kovind, Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid floral tributes at Babasaheb's Statue in the Parliament House Complex this morning.
