The president was right to do so.

The pardon of Lewis "Scooter" Libby, a Bush administration aide who obstructed justice, may be a message from Trump to others regarding the Mueller probe. According to CNN, Libby's attorney Bill Jeffress said he first learned of the potential pardon that evening not through legal channels but through a rush of murmurs within the media. Investigators never proved a definitive connection, but they did build an obstruction case against Libby.

Trump, of course, also believes he's being treated unfairly by law enforcement. Hopefully, this full pardon may definitely help a part of his entire life. "Scooter" Lewis Libby, former Chief of Staff to Vice President Richard Cheney, for convictions stemming from a 2007 trial", the release said.

Although the former Cheney aide had his sentence commuted by former President George W. Bush, the conviction remains on his record.

Trump said he does not know Libby, but "for years I have heard that he has been treated unfairly".

House of Representatives Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi said in an declaration, "This pardon sends a troubling sign to the president's allies that justice will be rewarded".

Hours later, the pardon for Libby, a convicted perjurer in an investigation initiated by Comey about leaking, was made public.

Cheney expressed her gratitude to Trump for the pardon. Now, in April 2018, Libby has been completely pardoned by President Donald Trump.

In 2007, James Comey was the deputy attorney general, and appointed a special counsel to oversee the FBI investigation into Libby. That is false. There was no impropriety in the preparation of any witness, and we did not tell witnesses what to say or withhold any information that should have been disclosed.

Trump was assaulting the Federal Bureau of Investigation to Russian meddling in the 20-16 election to get connections amid the evaluation of the 20-16 presidential campaign.

In a statement, Trump conceded he has no personal relationship with Libby, whose case has been held up by conservatives as an example of a special counsel overstepping his bounds.

Trump - who is now trying to deal with Mueller's investigation without the help of a White House communications director - has increasingly outsourced his messaging to Fox News.

White House adviser Kellyanne Conway, while declining at the time to confirm Mr Trump's plans for a pardon, said earlier on Friday that "many people think that Scooter Libby was the victim of a special counsel gone amok". He pardoned Joe Arpaio a month later which he was convicted of criminal contempt in a case involving racial profiling.

He said Friday through a spokesman that he was "very pleased" by the pardon.
