The auto represents the fourth generation of the popular compact and is due in most markets later this year. It will be available in three bodystyles, or the 5-door hatchback, the 4-door sedan and a 5-door wagon. There's also full LED lights with a matrix function.

"With mid-size family cars accounting for nearly one-in-five sales across Europe past year, Focus remains as important as ever to our company and our customers, which is why we've put so much energy into developing an all-new model that is among the very best cars we've produced yet". While the footprint of the vehicle has been kept the same as the old model, the new version increases cabin space both in the front and the rear.

Under the hood will most likely be familiar engines - the gasoline range will include entirely turbo motors, including the 1.0-liter EcoBoost and a more powerful 1.5-liter EcoBoost.

The estate boot space has been created to comfortable fit a dog crate, so Fido should be happy about the new Focus.

It features Ford's latest SYNC3 infotainment system with eight-inch touchscreen, Band & Olufsen sound system and wireless charging. I expect the first live pictures of the sedan and hatchback to appear soon, when they do I will update with another article. It includes a 140 millimetre boot-mounted subwoofer and a mid-range speaker in the centre of the dashboard which Ford claims to have been specifically calibrated to offer one of the best audio experiences in any vehicle, emphasis on any vehicle.

It also has Ford's adaptive front lighting system with new camera-based Predictive curve light and sign-based light that pre-adjust headlamp patterns for improved visibility by monitoring bends in the road and - for the first time in the industry - road signs. For a start there's adaptive cruise control with Stop & Go support, allowing the 2019 Focus to keep pace with traffic jams. In particular, according to the manufacturer, the new Ford Focus became 88 kg lighter. For stopping durations greater than 3 seconds, the driver can push a steering wheel button or gently apply the accelerator to pull away.

Local Focus models are expected to be equipped with five driving modes; Eco, Eco-Comfort, Comfort, Normal and Sport.

The entry-level trim is Style, and with a 1-litre, 84bhp engine it will cost from £17,930, £2,300 less than the outgoing model. The fourth generation Focus rides on a new chassis and suspension and has a new optional fast-shifting, 8-speed automatic transmission aimed to aid fuel efficiency and performance.

Under the vehicle works an independent front and rear suspension setup fitted with continuously controlled damping technology, a setup that monitors suspension, body movement as well as steering and braking inputs every 2 milliseconds. Ford has been able to slim that down, while still providing plenty of bins and cup holders. China and Europe aren't as crossover insane as Americans.

The 2019 Ford Focus has arrived, eight years on from the debut of the third-generation model.
