Three Himachal school staffers arrested for CBSE paper leak

The Delhi Police's Crime Branch on Saturday arrested three staff members of a school in Himachal Pradesh in connection with the CBSE Class XII Economics exam paper leak.

Police were tracking the three persons - the teacher, a clerk and a support staff - and finally nabbed them from Himachal. "It was his duty to further take these papers in schools", Upadhyaya said, adding that two days before the Class 12 economics paper, the teacher, along with Amit Sharma and Ashok Kumar, went to collect the question paper of computer science but also took out the economics question paper from the bundle. The police and CBSE later confirmed that an e-mail was sent to the CBSE chairperson from a Gmail ID with images of handwritten question papers at 1.29 am on March 28, the day Maths exam.

"The motive for paper leakage so far has emerged that Rakesh wanted to help his student who was weak in economics".

Reports of the Economics paper leaking in handwritten form before the exam (March 26) rocked CBSE last month and the consequent paper had to be cancelled.

"The hand-written copy was sent by Rakesh to his relative in Chandigarh, whose son was appearing for Class 12 exam".

As reported by The Hindu, The police said that the accused accessed the question paper two days before the examination, copied the questions on a piece of paper and circulated them. Shashi letter reads, 'I would request you to kindly consider a similar exemption of Class 12 students from the re-examination of the Economics paper on compassionate grounds'. "The student in Una, who copied the paper in her handwriting and who was being helped by Rakesh, will also be questioned", the officer said. "We are also examining the CCTV footage of the bank and questioning of the bank employees is underway", he added.

The investigators had sought the deleted chats and contexts shared by the group members and the Whatsapp admins amongst each others. This is how the paper got leaked on various WhatsApp group. CBSE had stated that it would be holding re-exams for Class 10 mathematics course after the paper was leaked.
