He went on to have a solid rookie campaign, registering 49 tackles, three sacks, a forced fumble and a safety, and the following year, Wilkerson was a bit better, finishing with 69 tackles, five sacks, three forced fumbles, a fumble recovery and a defensive touchdown.

Wilkerson's mom Ka'idah called into WFAN's "Boomer and Gio" show on Friday to defend her son after comments made by New York Daily News reporter Manish Mehta.

The 6-foot-4, 315 pound Wilkerson entered the league in 2011 out of Temple as a first-round pick (13 overall) with the Jets.

"Where's your proof, Manish, that Muhammad is an alcoholic?" the Linden, New Jersey, resident said. On Wednesday, they brought back defensive end George Johnson, after he was added late in the season and contributed immediately. The former New York Jets defensive end is scheduled to visit the Redskins next week, most likely Monday, according to a person with knowledge of Wilkerson's plans who spoke on the condition of anonymity.

"He's always written disgusting things about my son", Ka'idah said on the show Friday morning. I'm just livid with him.

Despite two lackluster seasons after signing a $86 million deal with the Jets, the Packers could see Wilkerson as a difference-making player for Pettine's new defense.

When asked if Wilkerson has trouble with alcohol, his mother said, "Absolutely not".

It'll be interesting to see whether Ka'idah indeed pursues a legal case against Mehta.

"He's out against him".

"I'm not saying he's an alcoholic", Mehta replied.

"You always say all these things", she said. "You called him a fat slob". What's your problem Manish?
