Jon Favreau is going to a galaxy far, far away.

Disney CEO Bob Iger shared the video during the company's annual shareholder's meeting this week and said, "Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge is shaping up to be one of the most detailed and immersive lands ever created in Disney parks". Just recently, we learned that Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss would be writing and producing a series of Star Wars films for Disney.

The veteran writer and director who helped launch the Marvel Cinematic Universe after directing the first two Iron Man films has now signed on to executive produce and write a Star Wars live action series being developed for Disney's new streaming platform that is expected to launch in 2019.

Star Wars fans are living their best life.

For the people in the latter category, Disney is getting oh-so-close to that reality - not only in California, but in Florida at Disney World as well.

Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy says in a Thursday announcement that Favreau will oversee the new spinoff series. He kickstarted the MCU with Iron Man and has since directed Iron Man 2, The Jungle Book and is now working on The Jungle Book 2. "I cant wait to embark upon this exciting adventure", Favreau said in a statement.

When Disney bought the Star Wars franchise in 2012 for $4 billion, some were skeptical. Favreau also has a role in the upcoming Han Solo spinoff, "Solo: A Star Wars Story". The Mouse likes to keep its secrets close to the vest.
