Clashes erupted between Palestinian youth and Israeli troops in the occupied West Bank on Friday amid ongoing demonstrations against the USA decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital, according to eyewitnesses.

Palestinian security sources said the clash was started by the settlers, after which the army intervened and fired at a group of Palestinians.

The military said that protesters were throwing firebombs at the soldiers, and the man was about to throw a firebomb at the troops before he was shot.

Another two additional wounded from live fire were taken to a hospital in Slafit south. the ministry said. Israeli settlements are growing at a record pace, and often intentionally in places to make a contiguous Palestine impossible.

Clashes between Palestinians and Israeli soldiers are common after Friday Muslim prayers.

At Abbas' orders, the PA security agencies are continuing to closely coordinate with the Israel Defense Forces and the Shin Bet security service, and they are regularly assisting in the rescue of Israelis who stray into Area A, which is under PA control.

Tensions have risen since US President Donald Trump's recognition in December of Jerusalem as Israel's capital - a decision that has infuriated Palestinians.

"Our failure", he said, "as Arab states, to implement our decisions throughout the past many years" was what led to America's "baseless decision" regarding the declaration of Jerusalem as Israel's capital and the recent announcement about starting the process of moving its embassy there by Israeli Independence Day in March.
