Ten persons including Sushanta Chowdhury, BJP candidate of Majlishpur Assembly constituency, were injured in the attack, BJP state president Biplab Kumar Deb said. "The CPI (M)'s terror tactics in West Bengal had led to hatred among the people there, resulting in its downfall.

However, it would not be an obstacle for Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to come to power in the state after the next week's assembly elections", Mr Shah told the media in Agartala.

Criticising the opposition Congress, Shah said that the party was trying to divide the anti-Left votes in the state for favouring CPI-M, but that would not work.

Assam minister and BJP's election in-charge for Tripura Himanta Biswa Sarma, who was also present, emphatically asserted, "Tripura will remain one and absolutely one". Amit Shah also accused the ruling government to spread rumours that the state would be divided if BJP comes to power.

Shah reiterated that after coming to power at the Centre, Modi introduced a bunch of welfare schemes and even allocated additional ₹18,000 in the 14th Finance Commission for Tripura.

He noted that while the BJP leaders are saying that they are not supporting the separate state demand but their ally IPFT has all along being campaigning in its favour, without any objection from them.

On Sunday, the National President of the BJP held two road shows in the state followed by three election rallies.

The other promises listed in the BJP manifesto include setting up of Special Economic Zones (SEZs) in the state for sectors like food processing, bamboo, IT and textiles, free education for women till graduation and 7th pay commission salary to state government employees, among others.

The Left Front has been ruling the state for almost 25 years continuously but Tripura lags behind in distribution of drinking water to households, healthcare services, power supply, infrastructure and attracting investments, he said.

Shah also promised to establish one degree College in each constituency of the state. Taking a leaf out of Communist party's book the BJP has released the "Vision Document" ahead of the 2018 elections. He claimed his party would win the February 18 poll defeating all counteracts and violent means adopted by the Left.
