"Text From Browser" Feature Could Be Coming To Android

After conducting an APK teardown of the latest version of Android Messages, Android Police found snippets of code that suggest Google is developing a desktop version of the app. It will allow users to send and receive SMS, MMS and even RCS (Rich Communication Services).

Android Messages' web messages service is expected to support multiple devices and browsers.

It is not yet certain when, if ever, Android Messages will be rolling out the new messaging feature.

The company, incorporated on July 23, 2015, is a holding company.

According to Android Police that unearths and scrutinizes code for Android's application packages (apk), Google may be taking Apple's iMessage route with Android Messages. Google already added the ability to send money to other private individuals in an update last fall.

However, the company's so-called Other Bets saw revenues rise from $262 million (£183m) a year ago to $409 million (£286m) in the last quarter.
