Face Unlock for OnePlus 5, Oreo 8.0 for 5T released in Beta

This new feature comes through the Oxygen OS Open Beta 3 update.

With an update to Android 8.0 Oreo, the OnePlus 5T would get an Added Parallel Apps feature, New design for Quick Settings, New design for Lift up display, Optimizations for Battery Saver and WiFi and much more. The Chinese smartphone manufacturer has sent updates to four of its devices including the OnePlus 5T, 5, 3 and 3T. If you don't want to install the update manually, you can wait for an OTA update for CyanogenOS, the official ROM. The thread for this update is filled with quite a few bug complaints, which makes sense for a first beta, so it's tough to tell of that's related or not. During the launch period, the company announced that they will bring the Oreo update to the phone very soon.

OnePlus Co-Founder Carl confirmed the Face Unlock feature for OnePlus 5 last month.

Though OnePlus has been prompt at providing Oreo updates for its eligible phones, the rollout has faced hiccups in the process. The refreshed rollout is said to begin soon with OxygenOS 5.0.1 and users will once again need to be patient for the Oreo-based update to hit their devices. The app was the subject of massive outrage from security researchers who highlighted that OnePlus is reportedly collecting specific data without permission. However, if you have not received the OxygenOS 5.0, it is because the company has stopped rolling out the update. You can also upload the photos to shot on OnePlus with the new launcher. "We can not guarantee results on rooted devices", said the company on its website. Many of the Android Go memory management improvements will be integrated with the update.
