8 best things Arizona Wildcats said after beating Oregon State

The Oregon State baseball team is ranked second by Perfect Game to open the 2018 season.

Arizona State scored 11 consecutive points with 6:02 left in the 1st Half, making the game 31-18 in favor of Arizona State.

Tres Tinkle scored 18 points and Stephen Thompson Jr. had 14 for Oregon State, which has won only once in Tucson in the last 35 years (2010).

UCLA 83, Utah 64: Aaron Holiday scored 20 points to lead the host Bruins (13-4, 4-1 Pac-12) past the Utes (10-6, 2-3).

St. Mary's 59, Santa Clara 46: Megan McKay scored a game-high 20 points to lead the host Gaels (11-5, 4-1 WCC) past the Broncos (5-11, 1-4), who shot a season-low 27.4-percent from the field.

The team also got the second double-double of the season from senior forward Mikyle McIntosh, who finished with 12 points and a season-high 13 rebounds. But the Wildcats outscored the visitors 24-14 over the final 7:33.

Ayton grabbed 10 rebounds and Arizona's Dusan Ristic had eight points and eight rebounds.

USF 78, Loyola Marymount 60: Anna Seilund had 23 points and 12 rebounds for the host Dons (8-8, 3-2). Similar to that ranking, Oregon State trails only Florida. Instead, Ira Lee's three-point play on a breakaway stuff and Trier's 3-pointer cut the lead to 22-21 with 3:11 to go, and neither team could score again before halftime. Oregon State has been the nation's most improved team, at 10-5 after going 5-27 past year.

Arizona State had the biggest lead in the game with an advantage of 13 at one point. The two men combined for seven of the eight made 3-pointers for OR on the night. They could be especially risky when teams come to Corvallis.

The victory came in the first game since Wildcats coach Sean Miller complained, following the Colorado loss, that he just can't get to these players. That's the part of the game Miller wants to emphasis in his frustrating efforts with the highly talented but inconsistent team. It welcomes in the Oregon State Beavers on Saturday.
