The Green Shirts lead the points table after registering back-to-back victories against Bangladesh and Nepal. The team's opening game against Australia was called off due to heavy rain.

Pakistan went into the match without five of their key players, Badar Munir, Riassat Khan, Sajid Nawaz, Mohsin Khan and Rashid Khan, who could not get visas in time to travel to UAE.

"As any other team, we set ourselves on the goal of hopefully winning the World Cup and proving that Canada is another up and coming massive cricketing nation".
