Qualcomm expands its support for Alexa, Cortana and the Google Assistant

Qualcomm: In addition to partnering with Microsoft on Windows-on-ARM "Always Connected" PCs, Qualcomm is building reference designs on its Smart Audio and Mesh Networking plaftorms that use Cortana.

A senior executive from Qualcomm said that, taking the benefits of the capabilities and features of Cortana, manufacturers can deliver user experiences on a new platform. The Qualcomm® Smart Audio Platform is created to help accelerate and redefine the development process for smart and networked speakers.

Besides, Qualcomm's Home Hub platform can be termed as the most powerful platform when it comes to computational efficiency and effectiveness.

Alexa and Google Assistant are appearing on what seems like every single gadget at CES 2018, but Cortana's absence from the party has made it the butt of jokes. For this to happen Microsoft is making it easier for OEMs and developers to build for Cortana by bringing Cortana Devices SDK.

Qualcomm announced that the Qualcomm Smart Audio Platform has been qualified by Amazon for the Alexa Voice Service (AVS). That's right, Qualcomm now has a kit and reference for smart speakers, where a smart speaker maker can easily make a smart speaker and choose which assistant they want on board. Additionally, Qualcomm Technologies is expanding the range of products that support the Qualcomm Mesh Networking Platform, beyond networking infrastructure to include smart speakers, smoke detectors, security systems, and smart bulbs.

Qualcomm Technologies also introduced the new Qualcomm Low Power Bluetooth SoC QCC5100 series to help manufacturers develop a new generation of compact wireless earbuds, hearables and headsets.

All the new wins for Alexa and Google Assistant announced at CES 2018 this week have led many to wonder about Cortana's prospects.
