News host Catt Sadler, who chose to leave the network last month when she learned she made a great deal less than her male co-host Jason Kennedy.

Arriving at the Golden Globes, Will & Grace star Messing referenced the departure of Catt Sadler, who resigned in December after learning her male co-star earned nearly double her salary.

"If you're on the carpet tonight or at home post in support and ask E! what happened?"

We're barely ten minutes into the E! Paying homage to the show's author, she then quoted Margaret Attwood, saying: "We were the people who were not in the papers".

It should be mentioned that while she was tonight's host of the E! red carpet, Giuliana was in immediate agreement with Messing's bold on-air statement, saying, "We have an wonderful platform here".

The E! network's red carpet interviews were meant to focus on the night's Time's Up, campaign, which prompted most stars to dress in black.

Laura Dern, Debra Messing and Eva Longoria all called out E! for pay inequality on its own red carpet coverage of the Golden Globes today.

The host said she agreed before turning the conversation back to the Time's Up initiative. "And that's something that can change tomorrow".

"We support gender equity and equal pay, and we hope that E! follows that lead with Catt as well", she said. Sadler, who had been with the network for over a decade, wrote. "In fact, [Kennedy] was making close to double my salary for the past several years".

They have also said that the pay disparity had to do with time spent in the job.

"E!" previously said in a statement that the network "compensates employees fairly and appropriately based on their roles, regardless of gender". "How can I operate with integrity and stay on at E! if they're not willing to pay me the same as him?"
