Gander Outdoors store to open in Eau Claire & Onalaska by June

Marcus Lemonis, CEO of Gander Mountain, has announced Gander Outdoors will open in Cedar Rapids by May or June. The Minnesota-based retail store already opened one of its rebranded locations on Wednesday, Dec. 14, in Lakeville.

The 57,000-square-foot Parker Gander Outdoors at 18420 Cottonwood Drive is expected to reopen in mid May to late June, officials said.

After liquidation sales, the Flint Township store had closed after Thanksgiving.

Now customers are learning that the store will be reopening, under new ownership.

"The goal is to get them opened at the end of May", Mr. Lemonis said in the video.

A manager at the Gander Outdoors Utica location declined to comment and messages left with corporate representatives weren't immediately returned.

Gander Mountain filed for bankruptcy last March, joining a growing number of other struggling retailers to do so in 2017, including The Limited, Aerosoles and Hhgregg.

"Rather than opening up as just a big box, we made a decision to change it up a little bit", Lemonis said. The Legend Range & Field department will offer hunting and firearms products, the Overton's department will offer everything marine related, and the Erewhon department will contain items related to active sports, camping and outdoors.
