Captain Marvel May Have Just Cast the MCU's Monica Rambeau

DeWanda Wise has just been added to the cast in a now unnamed but "plum" supporting role in the movie. Is Dewanda Wise Monica Rambeau, or are fans jumping the gun? If so, this would increase the importance of Wise's character exponentially, leading to (my) speculation that she could only be playing a well-known comic book character. After encountering the Kree hero, Captain Marvel, Carol Danvers was accidently subjected to otherworldly radiation that transformed her into a superhuman warrior. Their subsequent battle resulted in Danvers gaining her powers. But for a good chunk of time she was Captain Marvel, and was a full-fledged member of the Avengers. In the meantime, here is everything to know about "Captain Marvel".

Her specific role isn't specified, but that didn't stop the interwebs from buzzing that Wise could be taking on the part of fellow Marvel superhero Monica Rambeau aka Captain Marvel aka Spectrum. With Anna Boden-Ryan Fleck at the helm as director and A-List movie stars like Samuel L. Jackson and Jude Law in the cast, she'll certainly be in good company. The first character that comes to mind is Monica Rambeau, the first female character to inhabit the Captain Marvel title, though she remained relatively removed from the original Captain, Mar-Vell.

While it has not been confirmed who Mendelsohn will play, Marvel boss Kevin Feige recently teased that the shape-shifting alien group known as the Skrulls would feature in "Captain Marvel". It is slated to release on March 8, 2019. Just excited to see DeWanda getting more big roles?
