Brady And Belichick Respond To "Flat Out Inaccurate" ESPN Report

The story - written by Seth Wickersham and appearing under the headline "For Kraft, Brady and Belichick, is this the beginning of the end?" - asserts that dysfunction finally has reared its head, after almost two decades of virtually unparalleled success in New England.

An email meant to solve problems only created more of them.

Meanwhile, Brady continued to say he had no plans of retiring and meant to continue playing into his mid-40s.

One of those disagreements included the team's long-term quarterback plan which eventually resulted in the trade of former backup quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo.

"The two quarterbacks were friendly, but Brady - like Joe Montana to Steve Young and Brett Favre to Aaron Rodgers - didn't see it as his role to advise Garoppolo, even on matters as trivial as footwork, as nobody had helped him during his climb".

Unfortunately for Belichick, Kraft didn't have the same outlook and was more loyal towards Brady. When he arrived, the door was locked and they also wouldn't answer his calls. Belichick had long admired Kyle's father, Mike, who not only had been one of the NFL's smartest tacticians but had also personally defended Belichick to commissioner Roger Goodell during the Spygate scandal. Head coach Bill Belichick would prefer players get treated by team doctors. I'm not sure how much I'd read into this angle since the Patriots seem to be holding things together just fine for now and both Brady and Belichick are fierce competitors who are both interested in their own legacies.

All of this leads into the postseason. Given the fact that ESPN Insider Adam Schefter was more than adamant the Patriots would never trade Garoppolo, the timing of the trade didn't make sense, especially with the team only receiving a second-round draft pick from the 49ers in exchange.

However, if that tension is truly there and is just building up, it could explode on the football field leading the team into a demoralizing ending to the 2017 season and perhaps life as New England Patriots fans have grown accustomed to.

But winning cures everything, right? And if this is the beginning of the end of their dynasty, what a run it's been.
