Chelsea to sign Everton midfielder, Ross Barkley for £15m

Chelsea look set to complete the signing of Everton midfielder Ross Barkley for £15 million.

Barkley has been at Everton since he was 11-years-old, having been spotted by the club's late and prolific former scout Sid Benson, and made 150 Premier League appearances.

The England worldwide has now returned to training after a painstaking rehabilitation and Antonio Conte, the Chelsea head coach, wants to bolster his squad in January.

The Everton midfielder came close to moving south in the summer transfer window but pulled out of a deal to focus on his recovery from injury.

Earlier this week, Everton boss Sam Allardyce admitted he was resigned to losing Barkley before the end of the campaign.

But Chelsea were happy to pay to secure his services in January, with Antonio Conte enthused by Barkley's potential. "I can't see that changing". Chelsea did chase Ross Barkley signature during the summer window and there were even reports of a £35 million bid for the 24-year-old, but it never materialized. But that's not the case anymore, with Spurs apparently wanting to wait until the end of the season to sign him for free, while Chelsea ready to spend money now.

The likes of Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Lewis Baker have both proven their credentials while out on loan, yet Chelsea appear to have very little interest in integrating them into the first-team squad.
