The Washington Post reported that the friendship really took off when Guttman used the word p-h-a-t, hip-hop slang for excellent.

"So last summer I randomly met this 80yo woman on Words With Friends. Today I got to go to Florida and meet her in person", he wrote. The pastor arranged for a meeting in West Palm Beach on Friday.

Words With Friends is a multi-player Scrabble-like mobile phone game which was launched in 2009.

Their meeting was made possible by NY pastor Amy Butler, who added: 'Sweet day today with Spencer and his Words With Friends friend, Roz, watching them bond in person for the first time'. When Sleyon was visiting his friend a while back, Butler overheard them talking about Guttman. A minister of a church in NY helped make the arrangements for the friends to meet in-person.
