At this point, the 6-6 Bills are holding on for dear life in the playoff picture.

After limiting the Patriots to just nine points in the first half, Tom Brady led back-to-back scoring drives to open the second half as the Patriots opened up a 23-3 lead heading into the final quarter. And when it comes to allowing passing touchdowns, the Bills are among the stingiest defenses in the NFL. Following an opening offensive drive for the Buffalo Bills that saw them march down the field to only be stopped short has been a storyline all season long. The result extended the team's road winning streak to 14 games and puts the Patriots one step closer to winning the AFC East championship.

Things came to a head in Buffalo on Sunday.

DE Trey Flowers has been downgraded to out for Sunday's game against the host Buffalo Bills, the New England Patriots announced on Saturday. The Patriots finished with 191 yards rushing in their latest conquest of the Buffalo Bills.

The future Hall of Fame quarterback walked off the field.

The Bills would receive their offense in the first half from an unlikely source in that of a special teamer and backup quarterback Joe Webb. After taking several snap in the Wild Cat formation, Joe Webb fired over the middle to a wide open Travaris Cadet, but the pass fell incomplete. Like the Patriots, the Bills would settle for a field goal of their own, this from 49-yards out from Stephen Hauschka making it a 6-3 game.

WR Bernard Reedy was promoted by the New England Patriots from the practice squad. Going 70-yards in 10 plays the Patriots were able to extend their lead thanks to a Rex Bulkhead 1-yard touchdown run. However, their defense kept the Bills in check with big plays and key stops. Gronkowski snagged eight passes for 147 yards. In a 12-9 overtime victory on December 16 of that season, wide receiver David Patten had fumbled along the sideline and was knocked out briefly on the play, but because his head was out of bounds and the ball was still touching him, the Bills couldn't recover it legally. With over 30-all objective yards on the drive to be capped off by a 14-yard rushing touchdown for Burkhead would extend the lead even further in the Patriots favor making it 23-3.

Bills quarterback Tyrod Taylor was carted to the locker room with a knee injury early in the fourth quarter and did not return.

The Patriots would hold on for a final score of 23-3.

The Patriots (10-2) didn't need Brady to be at his best to reach double-digit victories for the 15th straight season.
