Any Russians in the Room? Sessions Jokes at Washington Speech

U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions showed Friday that all the speculation sparked by investigations into the Trump campaign's possible ties to Russian Federation hasn't affected his sense of humor.

Then, smiling mischievously, he added: "But I just was thinking, you know, I should ― I want to ask you".

Sessions was the keynote speaker at the National Lawyers Convention at Washington's Mayflower Hotel hosted by the conservative Federalist Society. "Got a cousin in Russian Federation?"

President Trump brought Kislyak into the Oval Office in May- the representative of the Kremlin could have come into contact with any number of Trump administration officials at the White House that day

Except, as he has said many times, Sessions had many such meetings in his role as a high-profile senator. The jokes were not part of Sessions' prepared remarks, according to the Hill.

In testimony to Congress this week, Sessions displayed a hazy memory of the campaign's dealings with Russians in the election, denying he ever lied about those contacts. But months ago, following the initial reports about his having met with Kislyak, Sessions recused himself from overseeing Justice Department investigations involving the Trump campaign.

Sergey Kislyak, Russia's former ambassador to the United States, said it would take him over 20 minutes to list every discussion he's had with people close to President Trump. On Thursday, the leaders of the Senate Judiciary Committee requested documents from Kushner's lawyer related to Kislyak, among other topics.
